Connect • Communicate • Collaborate
“We do not learn from experience... we learn from reflecting on experience.” ― John Dewey
Working one-on-one with thousands of graduates using the tenants of Experiential Learning Theory*, we have discovered that the students who remained present and connected to others during high-stress situations experience more success. These students are able to monitor their own and others’ feelings and emotions, to evaluate them, and use this information to guide their thinking and actions. This makes them more effective at communicating, mediating, de-escalating volatile situations, finding solutions and directing people to the resources they need. Therefore, our training approach focuses on the development of these qualities, also know as Emotional Intelligence (EQ).
Developing EQ is basically an inside job. It's learning to know and understand yourself and from there, extending your curiosity and understanding to others. Developing EQ is a practice of personal development. It's not always a comfortable process, but the rewards with regards to living a fulfilling, successful life are so worth the effort. At CWORX, our approach to this process of personal development is three fold; Connect, Communicate, Collaborate.

Connect:
C WORX provides live, reality-based training scenarios with high-stakes and a safe learning environment. Students discover their strengths and weaknesses when reaching out to others; they learn to assess their responses and impulses during volatile interactions while maintaining safe presence and protocol. Students feel empowered to guide escalated moments to a peaceful resolution.
Communicate:
C WORX provides proven operational communication models and strategies which students can immediately implement in their personal and professional lives. Students learn observable behaviors commonly associated with a mental health crisis and match those with the appropriate communication strategies for a favorable outcome. This analytical skill helps students develop an awareness of others’ feelings, needs, and concerns, providing them with the ability to induce desirable responses in others.
Collaborate:
C WORX facilitated, reality-based training scenarios help students master the communication strategies and skills presented in each class. Students learn from one another and receive valuable feedback about their personal communication style from master facilitators. C WORX proprietary role-play training technique is an interactive learning experience between the student, facilitator and our role-players. This highly effective learning process embraces visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles, integrating the training objectives with discernible impact, and often a few good laughs!
* Experiential Learning Theory incorporates Concrete Experience, Reflective Observation, Abstract Conceptualization and Active Experimentation into the learning experience.
